Wii Shop Channel Update: Phoenix Wright Joins the Team

We're thinking Matlock would've fared a lot better if he had a Wii remote, too.

It’s time for another Wii Shop Channel update, and this week’s a big one, especially if you’re a legal buff.

Leading the pack for this week’s update is Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which is finally available for 1,000 Wii points.  In the game, you’ll use the Wii remote to investigate crime scenes, butt heads with bitter prosecutors and question witnesses.  You’ll also pick out evidence and save the day across four unique, fun court cases.  Look for the review on this one later this week.

Chronos Twins DX is the follow-up to the hit Nintendo DS game, where you control the adventurous Nec across two temporal scenarios at once, using platforming gameplay to your advantage.  There are plenty of puzzles to solve as well.  This one will also set you back 1,000 Wii points, but if you’ve played the original game, it’s definitely worth it.

Meanwhile, if you prefer something puppetry-related, you’ll get a kick out of ShadowPlay.  This effort, from Deep Fried Entertainment, has you changing regular objects into more fascinating ones, such as a pineapple into a monster, a banana into a dolphin and so much more.  The game supports WiiMotion Plus (the first WiiWare game to do so) and has over 100 puzzles to solve in all.  It only costs 800 Wii points.

Finally, Virtual Console fans should enjoy the classic SNES game Shanghai II: Dragon’s Eye.  This intriguing board game has you removing like-colored tiles from a large playfield, using skill and technique to clear them all – if you can, that is.  This one costs 800 Wii points.

Enjoy this week’s offerings, gang, and look for the next update on the 18th!

I tried to get into Phoenix Wright and could not. Too slow paced for my FPS brain.
