Sure, it's old, but Super Mario Kart is still the best 16-bit racer you'll play.
It’s another Monday, and you know what that means. It’s time for another Wii Shop Channel update, with several Virtual Console and WiiWare games to download. Let’s break down what Nintendo has in store for us this week.
On the WiiWare front, Aksys Games has another Bit.Trip game for us. Bit.Trip Void is the third installment in the retro-arcade style series, and this time around, you’ll move around the entire screen as you interact with objects, creating memorable tunes and keeping color flowing on the screen. It features four-player support and goes for a cheap 600 Nintendo Points. We’ll have a review next week.
Harvest Moon: My Little Shop is the next offering, courtesy of Natsume. In the game, you’re a resident of Clover Town, taking over your grandparents’ farm and shop. You’ll need to balance crops and animals on the farm, while juggling business expenses and revenue to keep it from going out of business. If you’re a fan of the Harvest Moon series, this micromanagement/role-playing game will be just what the farmer ordered.
Gevo Entertainment’s Little Tournament Over Yonder is a curious little game where you play as a young Prince or Princess, leading your team into several battles. You’ll use strategic advantages as you control your team, using units with various powers and increasing their battle levels. Along with a single-player tournament, you’ll also be able to fight against a friend in two-player skirmishes. This battle will set you back 800 Nintendo Points.
Finally, there’s Learning With the PooYoos: Episode 1 from Lexis Numerique. You’ll play along with baby animals as you learn numbers, letters, shapes, colors and more. This interactive exercise only costs 500 Nintendo Points, so if you have little ones in your family, have at it.
Two new games await you on Virtual Console. The previously announced Super Mario Kart races onto the platform for 800 Nintendo Points (look for a review soon). Also, Majesco, a company thriving on the recent reboot of A Boy and His Blob for Wii, released the original NES game that started it all. For 500 points, you can relive this NES favorite, where you feed a blob creature different jelly beans to make your way through each stage. It’s a fun game to revisit, and we can’t recommend it enough.
And still…no Castlevania. Oh, well, Christmas is around the corner.
